Paste any text to see the word count, character count with and without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, reading time and speaking time, all updating as you type. It also lists your most used words, which helps you spot repetition in a post, article or cover letter.
Choose a LinkedIn or X preset to see exactly how many characters you have left before a post, headline, About section, comment or bio gets cut off.
A word is any run of letters or numbers, with apostrophes and hyphens kept inside it, so don't and well-known each count as one word. Spaces and line breaks separate words.
Reading time divides the word count by 238 words per minute, the average adult silent reading speed. Speaking time uses 150 words per minute, a normal pace for a talk or voice-over.
A LinkedIn post can hold up to 3,000 characters, a headline 220, the About section 2,600 and a comment 1,250. Pick the matching preset to see how many characters are left.
A standard X post is 280 characters. Premium accounts can write longer posts, up to 25,000 characters, and a profile bio is 160. X counts every link as 23 characters and counts emoji and Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters as 2, and the X preset does the same.
