Ten practical checks before your next Saudi, UAE or wider Gulf job application.
No email gate, subscription or CV upload. Tick the checks as you go. Selections reset when this page reloads.
Put a clear target role below your name. Add a short summary of your relevant experience, strongest skills and the work you can do. Skip generic claims like "hard-working team player".
Use a professional email, phone with country code, current city and a useful LinkedIn or portfolio link. Check that every link works. A full home address is usually unnecessary.
If relevant, state your current country, availability and a brief, accurate work-authorisation status. Do not claim a visa is transferable without checking. Leave passport, Iqama and Emirates ID numbers off the CV.
Match the skills and role terms you genuinely have. Put the most relevant experience first. Never add a tool, qualification or language fluency just to match a keyword.
Replace duties with actions and outcomes where you can. Use figures only when you can support them. No reliable number? Describe the scope or result honestly.
List jobs with the most recent first. Show role, employer, location and consistent month/year dates. Include qualifications and relevant licences or certifications. Explain gaps briefly when useful; no private medical detail needed.
Use clear headings, readable type and a simple reading order. Avoid putting key details only in icons, charts or images. Copy the CV text into a plain-text editor and check the order.
There is no single Gulf-wide rule. For a general text-first application, use a no-photo version unless the employer asks. Follow specific application instructions; do not add age, marital status or nationality by default.
Keep an editable DOCX version and a text-based PDF. Follow the advert or portal instructions. Check that the PDF text can be selected, the file opens on a phone and the name is clear: Firstname-Lastname-Role-CV.
Check spelling, dates, contact details and every claim. Read the first half-page: can someone see your target role, relevant experience and strongest evidence? Remove anything that distracts from that story.
Responsible for monthly reports.
Built a monthly sales dashboard used by the branch manager to compare product performance and plan stock orders.
Employer preferences and application systems vary. These checks improve clarity and accuracy; they do not guarantee a score, shortlist or interview.
